Dutch Eredivisie club SC Heerenveen have announced today that legendary Marco van Basten will become their coach next season, returning to the job after a three-year break.

Heerenveen's chairman, Rob Veenstra said the 47-year-old Van Basten signed a two-year contract, with no financial details revealed and that he would replace Ron Jans on the spot.

Marco himself was excited and aware of the challanges that are now awaiting him: "This is an ambitious club that wants to play at a higher level, but is also realistic/ I want to do all I can to build on that next season,'' concluded ex-Ajax and Milan superstar.

SC Heerenveen are currentl placed third in the Dutch league. Among the club's biggest success ever is winning the Dutch Cup in 2009.
